Response of Millennial Muslims to Religious Minority Groups in Indonesia

Religious minority groups have historically been positioned as the trigger for religious and social disharmony. This paper aims to explore millennial Muslims’ basis their positioning towards in Indonesia. The data collected through questionnaires, interviews, document studies were analyzed then converted into narrative form, tables, diagrams, charts. findings show that there are two Muslim responses groups. First, some responding with acceptance of non-Islamic affiliated Of 412 surveyed respondents, 280 or 67, 96% stated based on juridical-constitutional reason every citizen has same rights obligations, including live obey law. Representing second response, most respondents also rejected Islamic-affiliated 383 (93%) this rejection noting they believe existence these damaging Islam’s image. different forms response theological, juridical, cultural reasons can be found arguments, legislation, values local wisdom Indonesians. study proposes need building better understanding among Muslims regarding diversity Indonesia, finding common ground differences applied avoid conflicts future.
